retuning your nervous system with music
As a therapist, much of the work I do involves helping clients befriend their nervous system and learn how to feel safe. When we are in a calm, regulated state, we are better able to engage intentionally with our lives and the world in a way that aligns with our values. But how do we feel safe, calm, and regulated—especially if past life events have left us feeling unsafe? There are many different paths to autonomic nervous system regulation, including processing past trauma, learning new coping skills, and connecting with loved ones.
I’m excited to announce that I am now a Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) Certified Provider! SSP is a listening therapy that retunes the autonomic nervous system to enhance feelings of calm and safety. The protocol consists of five hours of specially filtered music, tuned to frequencies that promote a sense of safety. This process helps retrain your autonomic nervous system to recognize cues of safety, improving your ability to connect and regulate.
SSP has been shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, and many other conditions. It can be used as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with therapy.
If you're interested in exploring SSP, please reach out! I look forward to working with you.
